1. These new garage door openers can do more than just open and close the garage door
The new LiftMaster® 8500, 8550, 8360 and 8355 garage door openers have built-in MyQ® technology that allows them to operate the garage door or gate, or turn house lights on or off from anywhere in the world – all using a smartphone or computer.
2. There is NO ANNUAL FEE for the LiftMaster® Internet Gateway
Based on your feedback, we’ve eliminated the annual activation fee! This means that once you buy the LiftMaster® Internet Gateway (828LM) the mobile apps and website service is now FREE!
3. The Battery Backup System is now available in a chain drive
This should help homeowners who are “chain drive loyalists” or have heavy carriage-house or solid wood doors that may need steady performance and lifting power to open. And it’s an optional feature on the 8500 Wall Mount garage door opener. Just purchase the battery separately (model 475LM).
4. Security+2.0™ technology has twice the radio range
This enhanced radio performance communicates with the garage door opener in different frequencies, virtually eliminating interference. It also uses a different code every time the remote control is used, guarding against code theft.
5. Timer-to-Close feature
Homeowners can have the garage door automatically close after a pre-programmed number of minutes – ideal if your hands are full or you are unloading the car. This feature requires the Motion-Detecting Control Panel with Timer-to-Close or the Smart Control Panel®.

The MyQ® enabled LiftMaster® Internet Gateway is your simple solution for home control. It utilizes two-way communication technology which allows you to connect to and control your garage door opener, gate operator, or home lights by using an Internet-enabled computer or mobile phone from anywhere in the world. The LiftMaster® Internet Gateway accessory (model 828LM) is required to utilize this feature – it is a great add-on accessory when paired with the installation of a LiftMaster® 8500, 8550, 8360 or 8355 garage door opener.

LiftMaster® MyQ® Enabled Accessories
- 828LM LiftMaster® Internet Gateway – Monitors and controls the garage door opener or home lights from anywhere in the world via an Internet-enabled computer or mobile phone.
- 829LM Garage and Gate Monitor – Monitors and closes the garage door or gate from any room in the house.
- 825LM Remote Light Control – Operates home lighting with the garage door opener remote control or Internet-enabled computer or mobile phone via the LiftMaster® Internet Gateway.
- 823LM Remote Light Switch – Replaces any single light switch, allowing control of the lights remotely via the LiftMaster® Internet Gateway or garage door opener remote control.
- 888LM MyQ® Control Panel – Upgrades a LiftMaster® Security+® garage door opener manufactured since 1998 to the new MyQ® and Security+ 2.0™ radio systems. This will allow you to control your garage door opener, gate or home lights using your smartphone or computer (LiftMaster® Internet Gateway required to utilize this feature).

All MAX products are compatible with Security+2.0™ garage door openers and accessories enabled by MyQ® technology AND all LiftMaster® garage door openers manufactured since January 1993. This improved backwards-compatibility of these new products and helps consumers because it makes it easier to decide which additional accessories they may need.
All other new LiftMaster® accessories work only with LiftMaster® Security+2.0™ garage door openers.

Both the 8550 and 8360 feature a reliable integrated Battery Backup System that ensures the garage door opener, as well as the safety and security features, will continue to work, even when the power is out. That is added peace-of-mind for your customers and a huge selling point, especially in areas with frequent storms. Now, our best-selling drive system – the chain drive – offers Battery Backup in Premium Series model 8360.
The 8500 Wall Mount garage door opener features an optional Battery Backup system. You’ll just need to purchase the battery separately (model 475LM).
